With art museums making both their imagery and collections data open and accessible, a question arises: what to do with it all?
From June 16-27, 2014, a diverse, elite group of scholars, curators, and technologists gathered at Harvard to consider this question. For the two intensive weeks that composed Beautiful Data, a summer institute held at metaLAB (at) Harvard with support from the Getty Foundation, this group addressed the complexities of working with open collections through a range of discussions, activities, and projects.
We hope that the dialogue and work that came out of this workshop will continue to have impact and grow, and this website is meant to be a resource for accessing, engaging with, and building on the workshop’s ideas, processes, and projects.
